We expect marketing spin from soda companies and cereal brands. We expect bold, overhyped claims from late-night infomercials and Instagram influencers. But what happens when the greenwashing isn’t coming from a sugary beverage ad or a celebrity with a collagen sponsorship—but from a medical institution, a government agency, or a physician in a white coat?
What happens when they’re the ones doing the misleading?
Let’s talk about greenwashing in healthcare—the art of slapping a health halo on harmful or questionable products, with the full weight of “science,” “trust,” and “expertise” behind it. Because in today’s world, Big Food, Big Pharma, and Big Medicine have become master manipulators—not just of messaging, but of public perception. And they’re playing a dangerous game with your health.
The Orange Juice Lie: A Case Study in Medical Greenwashing
Not long ago, several mainstream news outlets ran glowing articles celebrating orange juice as a heart-healthy beverage. “One small glass a day can help reduce the risk of heart disease,” the headlines read. Some were even citing doctors who encouraged patients to start their morning with a glass of OJ for “cardiovascular support.”
Sounds great, right? Until you look at the label.
Orange juice, even the so-called “100% natural” kind, is loaded with sugar. One 8-ounce glass contains approximately 21–26 grams of sugar—comparable to a can of soda. And because there’s no fiber to buffer the glucose spike, your body is essentially mainlining liquid sugar straight into your bloodstream. This drives up insulin, taxes your pancreas, triggers inflammation, and contributes to the very conditions it claims to protect against—metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.
So why would anyone, let alone a doctor, call this “healthy”?
Because the food industry has long partnered with medical institutions to shape public narratives. Research is funded by orange juice manufacturers. Doctors and dietitians are sponsored by Big Ag. And studies that show benefits of citrus flavonoids are cherry-picked and taken out of context—never mind the actual sugar load. It's not medicine. It’s marketing with a stethoscope.
Greenwashing in a Lab Coat
Greenwashing isn’t just about orange juice. It’s a systemic pattern:
Cereal boxes plastered with “heart healthy” logos—while filled with ultra-processed grains, seed oils, and synthetic vitamins.
“Low-fat” labels promoted by the American Heart Association—which led millions to avoid healthy animal fats and replace them with inflammatory seed oils and sugar.
Pharmaceuticals advertised as miracle cures—backed by skewed studies, ghostwritten papers, and doctors paid to promote them.
This isn’t fringe conspiracy theory. It’s documented history. The revolving door between federal agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and food conglomerates has eroded public trust—and for good reason. When a “trusted” source tells you something is good for you, but their funding comes from the very companies that profit off your disease… is it really advice, or is it a sales pitch?
Why It Matters
Greenwashing in healthcare is more than just annoying. It’s dangerous.
People are being misled into consuming foods, medications, and interventions that harm their bodies—while believing they’re making smart, healthy choices. The result? An epidemic of chronic illness. Skyrocketing rates of diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disease, and cardiovascular dysfunction. And a population that trusts the label more than their own intuition.
How to Spot the Lies
Here are a few red flags to look out for:
“Heart-healthy” claims on processed foods: If it comes in a box and has a health claim, be suspicious.
Medical advice sponsored by industry: Always check who funded the study or owns the platform publishing the recommendations.
Fear-based selling: If they’re trying to scare you into compliance (“Take this or you’ll die”), it’s about control—not care.
One-size-fits-all guidance: Real health is individualized. Cookie-cutter solutions serve profits, not people.
The Real Prescription: Think Critically. Ask Questions.
At Remnant Healthcare, we believe in real informed consent. We believe in truth over profit, critical thinking over compliance, and patient empowerment over passive acceptance.
Your body is not a deficiency in pharmaceuticals. It is fearfully and wonderfully made, and capable of extraordinary healing—when nourished properly.
So the next time you see a commercial, headline, or “expert” claim that a sugar-laden beverage will prevent heart disease, ask yourself: Who benefits from this message?
Because chances are, it’s not you.
“Just because it’s printed on a pamphlet in your doctor’s office doesn’t mean it’s truth. Health isn’t found in a carton of juice—it’s found in the choices we make daily, the foods God made, and the freedom to think for ourselves.”

About the Author:
Kimberly Overton, BSN, RN, BC-FMP, is a Registered Nurse, entrepreneur, and fierce advocate for medical freedom and informed consent. With a background in critical care and acute patient management, she bore witness to the systemic failures of a healthcare system corrupted by profit-driven protocols—protocols that led to medical murders disguised as care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kimberly made the bold decision to resign from traditional bedside nursing, standing in protest against coercive mandates, the unethical use of Remdesivir, and the rollout of dangerous, ineffective COVID “vaccines.” This defining moment propelled her to establish Nurse Freedom Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering nurses, safeguarding patient rights, and exposing corruption within the healthcare system.
Today, she continues her mission at the bedside as a Hospice nurse, where she brings dignity, presence, and compassion to the end-of-life journey—honoring the sacred transition and advocating for comfort, truth, and informed decisions. Her experience in hospice care further reinforces the importance of understanding every medical intervention and upholding the nurse’s role as a protector of patient safety and peace.
Expanding on her mission, she launched Remnant Healthcare, providing holistic, patient-centered alternatives that honor medical autonomy, informed consent, and compassionate care. As host of Nurses Out Loud, Kimberly amplifies the movement for healthcare reform, medical freedom, and the unwavering defense of human dignity.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, and now residing in Hendersonville, Tennessee, her mission is to disrupt the broken system, hold the profiteers accountable, and reclaim healthcare on a foundation of truth, ethics, and respect for human life—restoring humanity to the healing profession.

I am one of 22 horse owners boarding at a local barn. Actually, that number is now 21 because an owner just died from brain cancer, and it may drop to 20 if the young owner with severe encephalopathy does not return. Two owners with brain disease out of 22 is almost 10%, which seems like an awful high number!
