I have struggled to find the words since the verdict came down in the Schara v. Ascension trial. I suppose part of me didn’t believe this was how it would end—not with justice, not with truth, not with accountability, but with silence. With dismissal. With a jury that deliberated just fifteen minutes before siding with the very system that failed Grace Schara so tragically.
Fifteen minutes.
That’s barely enough time to read over jury instructions, let alone meaningfully weigh the weeks of expert testimony, documentation, and heart-wrenching evidence presented by Grace’s family and legal team. It’s hard not to wonder: Did they even try? Or had their minds already been made up before closing arguments even ended?
This verdict hit like a punch to the gut—not just because it denied justice to Grace, but because it reaffirms the harsh reality we’re up against. The very institutions that claim to protect and serve us—medicine, government, law—have become so deeply intertwined, so corrupted by power, money, and agenda, that truth doesn’t seem to matter anymore. It’s about optics. Liability shields. Legal gymnastics. Reputation management. And control.
Yet through the heartbreak, I remain deeply grateful to Attorney Warner Mendenhall and his courageous legal team for taking this case on. In a world where most attorneys would rather settle quietly or walk away from the fight altogether, Warner stood up. He stood with the Schara family. He stood for truth. He took on a medical Goliath, not for fame or fortune, but because it was the right thing to do. That kind of bravery in today’s climate is nothing short of heroic.
And while the court may have failed Grace, the fight is far from over.
🩺 A Broken System, Exposed
Let’s not forget what this case revealed.
Grace Schara, a 19-year-old girl with Down syndrome, was taken to Ascension’s St. Elizabeth’s Hospital during the COVID-19 panic. She was not intubated. She was not on a ventilator. Yet she died after being given a lethal cocktail of sedatives, administered without proper consent from her medical power of attorney. Her father, Scott Schara, has been unrelenting in his pursuit of answers—and accountability. He has shown the world what it looks like to grieve, to investigate, and to seek justice with unwavering faith.
Throughout the trial, expert witnesses testified to medical malpractice, ethics violations, and clear breaches in standard of care. There were documents. Witness statements. Video. Recordings. Yet in the end, none of it was enough. Not in this system.
The verdict didn’t just fail Grace—it sent a message loud and clear: The system protects its own.
⚖️The Overlap of Legal and Medical Corruption
What we witnessed in this trial was the unholy alliance of two deeply corrupted institutions—the legal system and the medical establishment. And they are now so entangled that the average American stands little chance of prevailing against them.
In the courtroom, facts often take a backseat to procedure. Expert testimony is undermined. Hospital policies are cloaked in legal jargon. Jurors are conditioned to trust institutions. And when the defense represents one of the largest hospital chains in the country—backed by federal immunity shields and an army of attorneys—justice becomes an illusion. A performance.
Meanwhile, in the hospital rooms across this country, patients are reduced to protocol. Families are silenced. Informed consent is ignored. Care is driven not by compassion or collaboration, but by profit incentives, liability protection, and fear of deviation from the "standard of care."
When corruption rules both the gurney and the gavel, where is the justice?
🙏God Is the Final Judge and Juror
As I sat with my own heartbreak following the verdict, I found solace in the only place that has ever brought me true peace: my faith.
Because while man’s courts may fail, God never does. He sees all. He knows what happened to Grace. He knows the truth that the jury refused to acknowledge. And He will deliver justice—in His time, in His way. It may not look how we want it to. It may not come through a courtroom or a settlement. But it will come.
To the Schara family: I see you. I honor your courage, your unwavering voice, and your love for Grace. What you’ve done in her name will ripple out far beyond this courtroom loss. The world is paying attention. Your advocacy is changing the conversation. And Grace’s legacy will continue to expose the lies, the policies, the corruption—because you dared to speak up.
🛠️So Where Do We Go From Here?
If the Schara trial proved anything, it’s this: we cannot wait for these broken systems to fix themselves.
They won’t.
We need alternatives—new models for healthcare that are patient-centered, transparent, and free from the control of government and corporate interests. We need attorneys like Warner Mendenhall who are willing to challenge the legal establishment, even when the odds are stacked against them. And we need communities of people who are awake, aware, and unafraid to stand together for truth.
This is why I do what I do. Why I founded Remnant Healthcare. Because we cannot heal a system that was built to serve itself. We must build anew.
But first, we grieve. And we honor Grace.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." – Psalm 34:18
I am heartbroken. I am angry. But I am not defeated. And neither are the thousands of families just like the Scharas who refuse to be silenced.
Grace’s voice will not be drowned out by fifteen minutes of indifference.
We will speak her name.
We will seek justice.
And we will build a better way.
In love, grief, and solidarity—

About the Author:
Kimberly Overton, BSN, RN, BC-FMP, is a Registered Nurse, entrepreneur, and fierce advocate for medical freedom and informed consent. With a background in critical care and acute patient management, she bore witness to the systemic failures of a healthcare system corrupted by profit-driven protocols—protocols that led to medical murders disguised as care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kimberly made the bold decision to resign from traditional bedside nursing, standing in protest against coercive mandates, the unethical use of Remdesivir, and the rollout of dangerous, ineffective COVID “vaccines.” This defining moment propelled her to establish Nurse Freedom Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering nurses, safeguarding patient rights, and exposing corruption within the healthcare system.
Today, she continues her mission at the bedside as a Hospice nurse, where she brings dignity, presence, and compassion to the end-of-life journey—honoring the sacred transition and advocating for comfort, truth, and informed decisions. Her experience in hospice care further reinforces the importance of understanding every medical intervention and upholding the nurse’s role as a protector of patient safety and peace.
Expanding on her mission, she launched Remnant Healthcare, providing holistic, patient-centered alternatives that honor medical autonomy, informed consent, and compassionate care. As host of Nurses Out Loud, Kimberly amplifies the movement for healthcare reform, medical freedom, and the unwavering defense of human dignity.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, and now residing in Hendersonville, Tennessee, her mission is to disrupt the broken system, hold the profiteers accountable, and reclaim healthcare on a foundation of truth, ethics, and respect for human life—restoring humanity to the healing profession.

Thank you for this articulate writeup of the heartbreaking turn of events. You captured many of my own thoughts.
Thank you
Sounds like the jury was instructed weeks before with a decision. Perhaps they were threatened. The medical industry is incredibly powerful, backed by the government and big pHarma.
Perhaps they the jury were so prejudiced against individuals who are "disabled" that they decided the victim Grace wasn't worthy of living.
What's clear is the continuation of the state killing those deemed disabled, the weak, those born with birth defects leaving them crippled as happened in nazi Germany during WWII where they were killed at the German state institutions via injections for the crime of having physical or mental defects.
Tens of thousands of crippled children in Nazi Germany were secretly killed because they were deemed inferior and a burden to the state.
Those nurses and doctors saw young Grace, and decided she wasn't worthy of being treated and took the opportunity to end the lifeof an "inferior" human being for profit, knowing they can kill anyone they want to with no liability due to the EUA for covid shots, the PreP Act, etc. They can and they did because they didn't see Grace as deserving to live, but deserving to die and because they had the power to do so.
I am very sorry this travesty of justice happened. It's like we're living in a sort of medical Nazi Germany but without the flags, the heil Hitler greetings, etc.
The general public has no idea they give up the right to live when they enter the hallowed doors of hospitals.
They murdered her knowing hospital protocol would protect them. And they probably earned a bonus for killing her as well: one less useless eater.
