In recent years, the term “gender-affirming care” has been marketed as a compassionate, necessary form of healthcare for children struggling with gender dysphoria.
Hi Marc…We have practitioners in multiple states, but the majority of care is done virtually, and we are available to members of our Private Membership Association globally!
As a retired RN, I am appalled that this is allowed in medicine! It is disgusting and unimaginable that these children are coerced into thinking this is the only way to alleviate their gender dysphoria. It's a sad commentary on what we accept in this country. I wish more people would be aware of the facts and speak up!
The trend towards transitioning children has also been promoted heavily in public schools. I believe it started with well meaning admonitions against hate and bullying, which socially grew into placing ultimate priority upon "acceptance". Accepting others meant it was no longer okay to question someone else's assertion of who they think they are, even when such assertions are extreme and ridiculous, such as a child in a classroom who identifies as a cat and refuses to speak with words other than "meow".
What may have been deemed extreme and ridiculous in a different era is now sacrosanct. When little Johnny tells his teachers that he thinks he is a girl, the teacher is obliged to honor Johnny's preference, and some feel so virtuous in doing so, they go into full swing. Johnny gets a new name and new pronouns to be used at school whether his parents know and approve or not.
One of the problems with this is that kids are highly subject to peer pressure, wanting to be liked, and fitting in. They don't know themselves well enough to resist trying out different things, especially if those things provide attention and praise. Much of being a teen is trying out fads and trends to see what fits, what's comfortable, and what's popular.
So it became a trendy fad to decide you would have your own unique set of pronouns as well as a new way of defining one's sexuality. Because of the overt emphasis placed on such things in public schools, those things became the MOST IMPORTANT thing about a person. "Who are you?". Ask a public high school product and you get a litany describing their sexual inclinations/preferences and a couple of pronouns which you are obligated to use despite your lying eyes, for fear of being labeled a transphobic hater, or even worse, charged with a hate crime.
This gives kids trying to sort themselves out a tremendous amount of power. Praise from like minded groups readily found on social media, constant pressure from these groups, attention from others and unchallenged power over authority figures such as teachers, administrators, counselors, parents, and doctors, none of whom are socially allowed to raise questions, promote critical introspection, or in any way suggest that the Emperor has no clothes.
If it were just that, the world at large can put it's faith in knowing that teens can be mercurial, and that time, maturity and growth most often bring clarity and perspective to teenage whims. What 25 year old hasn't thought back to reflect on themselves as a 13 year old and found memories that are now utterly cringe worthy?
The tragedy comes when teenage whims and uncertainty becomes permanently sealed in place by medical personnel in their zeal to honor little Johnny's notion that he is actually a she. Surgical alterations and artificial hormones ensue, here you go Johnny, now you are Janie, you're a REAL WOMAN (that is, if anyone is even capable nowadays of defining what a woman is)
Is it more often than not that Johnny is a terribly confused, conflicted and unhappy kid, who remains terribly confused, conflicted and unhappy while demanding the world call him Janie in a body that is now permanently disfigured? Who wins? The doctors and therapists who egged all this on win, they are paid well for their efforts and move on basking in their self imagined virtue. Does Johnny/Janie win? Perhaps some do. Perhaps some go on feeling much better about themselves, confident, affirmed, well adjusted within society, able to have healthy relationships and contribute to society in a meaningful and rewarding way. Hollywood tours stories of unicorns like this - trans beauties who are so striking that even pretty biological females are jealous. I think that may be the fantasy for some - to become a gorgeous feminine creature.
But the results are most often anything but that. Do surgery and apply hormones to an unattractive male, now you have what appears to be an unattractive male desperately trying to convince the world that he is a she, and petulantly demanding the world regard him as such even though the human eye and subconscious mind almost always instantly registers true gender upon a quick glance. That's an inborn process of biological selection and mating.
Yes, we can go along to get along, and out of some form of compassion or sympathy - or even a desire to support - obediently refer to Janie using the pronouns Janie desires and treat Janie as a woman It doesn't change the fact that Janie is a surgically and hormonally altered male who is most likely in for a difficult, tormented, and shortened life. How best does the world help such people? I think Nurse Overton is spot on to question the current approach, and that it is ultimately more humane to challenge delusional thinking rather than affirm it with permanent disfigurement.
The alarming increase in narcissism and Munchausen/ Munchausen by proxy cannot be overlooked. It appears to me to be directly related to the Internet. There is no such thing as a trans toddler. There is the tell
A majority of the girls who want to be boys have been molested. Shame on their therapists for not digging deeper into why they hide their bodies behind baggy clothes. This should be the first thing they look for - sexual abuse - and then work with that to help these girls heal their trauma.
Thank you for this article! I'm a RN and i'm disgusted with what they are doing to our children. I actually have a step son that recently told us he is Trans and wants to dress as a girl. He's 15 and he only is with us part time. His mom is very supportive and is praising him and giving a lot of attention to this. I know his decisions are influenced from social media and public school. We are very much against it and trying to navigate how to handle this in a compassionate and loving way. It's hard to find support and resources because most of the information is in support of being Trans. Thank you for being a voice of reason! I love Nurses Out Loud and you all have been such an inspiration!
Is Remnant Health Care available in one or many geographical areas?

💯 this. Never forget the stain on us when we treated mental illness with surgery the last time... Lobotomizing victims.
